Alicja Sundblade, FNP
Alicja Sundblade knew from the time she was young that she wanted to be a nurse. “Growing up with a nurse as a mother, I saw from a young age that nursing was the most fulfilling career I could imagine. I knew I wanted to start with something broad so I could see up close what I really enjoyed, and it turned out I loved taking care of the patient’s varied needs and diagnoses, and enjoyed developing relationships with their families as well.”
Alicja joined Novant Health Presbyterian Internal Medicine as a nurse practitioner in 2013. Prior to that, she worked as a nurse at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center for 4 years in the medical-telemetry unit providing specialized care for patients in need of heart monitoring.
“The thing I like best about my practice is following up with patients throughout the year and developing relationships with them and their families, and working with them towards a common goal. I really enjoy educating and counseling in the hopes of preventing the chronic disorders we see frequently in Internal Medicine.” Alicja particularly enjoys educating and counseling patients on health issues related to diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol management.
Outside of work, Alicja enjoys spending time with her family and her furry friend, a malti-poo named Wilson. She and her husband like to play tennis, go to church, and enjoy spending time together. Alicja also loves Zumba, likes to see movies, and enjoys trying new recipes cooking when she gets the chance.
Above all, the one thing Alicja wants her patients to know about her is that “we are partners in their healthcare and I aim to find solutions that work for THEM. The patient is the center.”
